The Haunting of Gabriel Ashe ~ Book Review

Hai peeps! I just finished a really good book by Dan Poblocki.

Something sinister lurks in the woods outside of Slade.

Gabe has seen it, or thinks he has- a shadow standing at the treeline, watching Gabe’s house with faintly glowing eyes.

Dispite Gabe’s misgivings, his new friend Seth relishes the creepy atmosphere of the forest. It’s the perfect setting for his imaginary struggle against the Hunter, a deformed child-eating creature said to leave the bones of his victims in his wake. It’s just a game, but it’s all a bit much for Gabe, who loses interest as summer ends and the days grow shorter.

But then strange things start to happen. Frightening things. And Gabe knows it has something to do with the dark figure watching him from the woods.

Is Seth out to teach Gabe a lesson? Or is the Hunter more than just a myth? Gabe isn’t sure which option is more horrifying, but he’s determined to learn the truth before someone gets hurt… or worse.

I bought this book yesterday amd couldn’t put it down til it was over. There were so many twists and turns, and just when you think you know the answer something pops up that turns you on your ear!

There’s no swearing, but it is very violent and gory.

I’d recommend a 13+ for this one. And plenty of light, it gets pretty spooky!

I loved the plot and characters, 10/10 would recommend for anyone who loves horror.

Thanks for reading!

Spooky Recommendations #2

Yas! I’m keeping up so far!

Ahem. Anyway, for the whole month of October, I will be sharing a scary book that I like every week.

Second book of the month-

I’m not even gonna try with a summary.

This was probably the first really scary book I ever read. Up to this one, my experiences with Agatha Christie books had not been so great. (The Murder of Roger Ackroyd really messed with me)

But And Then There Were None changed my pov entirely. It’s incredibly well written, the plot is just amazing. I could go on for forever, but I’ll stop here.

Anxiety scale- 7/10

Thx for reading! Stay tuned for the next one!

Spooky Recommendations #1

Hello there! My name is Alex, and I run this blog sort of.

This October I’m going to give a weekly recommendation of a creepy/scary book I like. I’ll have a Anxiety scale, so y’all will know if you can safely read it and get a good nights sleep .)

First book of the month-

The description won’t let me copy and paste, so I’ll try to explain.

Basically, this girl gets fed up with her family (mom, dad, and little sister) and runs off to her aunt who invites her to stay. They’re cleaning the attic when they find the aunt’s old dollhouse. It seems ok at first, but then strange things start happening and the aunt won’t tell her anything.

How was that?

Anyway, I just read this in August, I think, and it was really good. It’s not too scary, but it is creepy.

Anxiety scale- 4/10

Love y’all!!! .)
